BUSINESS PLANNING
Clear Direction for Highland Ambition
In the North West Highlands, a business isn’t just a set of spreadsheets; it’s a way of life. Whether you are launching a new venture from your kitchen table or managing a long-standing Gairloch landmark, your business is the lifeblood that supports you, your family, and the wider community.
As a small community, we need our electricians, bakers, hairdressers, and childcare providers to thrive. Without the vital services that small and medium businesses bring to the area, we wouldn’t be the resilient community we are today. Furthermore, our tourism industry provides essential employment, giving local families a reason to stay and build their futures here. Your business idea matters, and we want to help it flourish.

What is a business plan?
Think of a business plan as your roadmap. We don’t believe in 50-page corporate documents that sit forgotten in a drawer; we focus on practical, living strategies.
Whether you are starting a new dog-sitting venture or expanding a hotel, a plan helps you understand exactly how to turn an idea into a reality. It is the tool that turns “having a go” into a sustainable, reliable income. Every strategy we create is tailored to the unique challenges of our remote landscape—from seasonal fluctuations to the intricacies of Highland logistics.

How We Help
- New Ventures: We help you stress-test your idea, identify your audience, and build a clear pathway to your first day of trading.
- Scaling Up: If you’re ready to grow—perhaps moving from a home studio to a shopfront or extending your tourism season—we help you manage that transition safely.
- Funding & Grants: We assist in preparing the professional documentation required for bank loans, local grants, or private investment.

The “Bothy” Process
We start with a conversation, not a form.
- The Sit-Down: We meet (usually over coffee) to talk through your goals, your worries, and what “success” actually looks like to you.
- The Analysis: We look at the local market, your competition, and your capacity to ensure the numbers actually stack up.
- The Roadmap: You receive a clear, concise plan that outlines exactly what you need to do next.
“A goal without a plan is just a wish. We’re here to make sure your Highland business becomes a reality.”
